It’s been a BIG week for food!

This week, we would like to start our weekly blog with some rather exciting news! We have the winners for our first Restaurant, Café and Pub of the Month awards for November 2014.

The well-deserving winners are: The Kingsbridge Inn in Totnes, The Treby  Arms Plymouth and the Café at 36 in Exeter. If you want to find out why we thought they were worthy of this great award then either visit our website for more details or why not take a trip there yourself and taste some award winning food!

In other news as the title suggests, this week has been a big one for foodies all over Devon. Why? Four words; The Big Food Show. This amazing event came to Exeter last weekend with a whole bunch of fantastic special guests including; John Torode, Ping Coombes, Glenn Cosby and everyone’s favourite hairy pairing The Hairy Bikers!

The Big Food Show is a tasty little gathering of a variety of different demonstrations, talks, shops and even a children’s cooking area that brings together people who love food with people who know food!

Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday we were astonished to discover not only the sheer size but also the variety that was on offer across the event. It truly was a haven for those who love food and drink.

Hands on workshops, celebrity chefs, stalls and stands packed with the latest equipment and best of all, the chance to sample some delicious treats for food and drink producers around the UK.

At A Taste of Devon we were lucky enough to get a chance to experience The Big Food Show firsthand and not only see but also smell and taste our way around the event!

We have to admit that it is really hard to pinpoint our favourite part, however if we had to pick one it would be John Torode and his demonstration of how to cook a perfect steak.

So while others are concentrating on the spooky we have dedicated ourselves to the out and out delicious with our round up of some of the best food of this week.

Join us next week when we share with you some of our most favourite Bonfire Night recipes; all designed to make sure that your party (or just your dinner) goes with a bang!

About A Taste of Devon

I've always loved food with a passion, I've spent my whole life developing recipes, learning new techniques and cooking every spare minute I get, in 2014 I appeared on MasterChef where I received positive feedback from John Torode and Series 2 Winner Peter Bayless. These days I run A Taste of Devon - a website dedicated to the food and drink scene in Devon.
